When Jessica and Rebecca contacted me about documenting the finalization of their adoption, I was so thrilled to become a part such a special moment in their family. They planned to have most of the family there for the signing at the courthouse, showing love and support. The whole process of adoption was a new and exciting experience for me. This was nearly a year-long process for the family, and the big day had the possibility of being a long one.
We were called into a dark courtroom to wait our turn with the other families signing that day, and the family nearly filled half of the seats. Such love for sweet Matteo just filled the room. We were all surprised at just how quickly the process went! We were the second group called, and joined the judge in his chambers. It was heartwarming for me to see just how positive the courts were toward having photos taken. They greatly encouraged having a photographer, and the bailiff thanked me, because it let him off the hook this time. The judge said that this was his favorite day of the week, when he gets to unite and officiate the adoptions into these families, and I can see why.
I’m so pleased that Jessica and Rebecca chose me to photograph the day of his adoption. Matteo will be able to look back on these images and just know how much he is loved and cherished.
What an incredible gift <3
